IBTM World 2024 is a chance for Luxurique to meet with MICE professionals and showcase Japan's significant appeal.
IBTM World 2023, the leading global event for the meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry, is one of the highlights of Luxurique’s calendar.
This year, CEO Naomi Mano and our hospitality coordinator, Shoko Hida, were in Barcelona between the 28th and 30th of November to meet more than 100 potential clients and partners from 30 countries as far-flung as the US and UK, Brazil, Romania and Pakistan at our stunning Luxurique booth.
It was the biggest IBTM yet, with almost 10,000 people, including 2,053 exhibitors from 78 countries, meeting, exchanging ideas and playing a part in shaping the future of the international MICE tourism industry.
Some of our most significant takeaways were that there is a huge demand among decision-makers to host their MICE events in Japan. However, many of them suggested that they had previously worked with bigger DMCs and were now looking for smaller partners that are more flexible in their approach.

A reassuring trend we noticed at IBTM was that people were excited about hosting events in cities other than the major hubs of Tokyo and Kyoto. “That comes with the maturity of people knowing the country,” says Naomi Mano, the CEO of Luxurique. “Perhaps they’ve already been to Tokyo so now they’re more comfortable with Hakone or another rural city.”
